Student of University of Maiduguri was Assaulted after a romantic rejection.

A distressing incident unfolded at the University of Maiduguri, where a student from the Department of Biochemistry, identified as Saleem Ibrahim, allegedly assaulted a 21-year-old woman named Hauwa Abatcha Ngala after she declined his romantic advances. Reports indicate that Saleem had persistently pursued Hauwa, who is a student at the College of Nursing Sciences in Maiduguri, with his affections, only to face rejection. Enraged by her response, Saleem reportedly resorted to violence, attacking her with a club until she lost consciousness.

According to security analyst and counterintelligence expert Zagazola Makama, who brought attention to this distressing incident in a recent communication, Saleem was apprehended by law enforcement authorities following the assault. However, it is disconcerting to note that despite the gravity of the offense, Saleem was subsequently released from custody under the directive of Hon. Bukar Tijjani, the Borno State Secretary to the Government.
